Fisher Services has successfully retained the catering contract at Parliament after a public tender that was called by Parliamentary Services.Although Fisher Services has been operating Bellamy’s for the past six years under a management fee structure, the new Terms and Conditions have changed so that Fisher Services carries all the trading risks.
Part of the changes to the operation is that of service standards with a greater regard to customer expectations and a major shift in culinary focus with the emphasis on a cuisine de lite style cooking, minimising as much fat content as possible and offering a nutritious, balanced meal composition.
Bellamy's is the name given to
the whole complex that incorporates a range of different units. The name Bellamy's is derived from John Bellamy who was head Housekeeper of Westminster, London, in 1773. The New Zealand Parliament is the only Parliament that still associates with the use of Bellamy's name. New Zealand Parliament has used the name Bellamy's for their food and beverage since 1867.
The photograph taken on the middle staircase in the Beehive shows
the staff all in their new uniforms, ready to commence the challenges of the new service and cuisine standards.
