There are lots of events during the next couple of months, We have our National Conference in Hamilton on the 10th and 11th of July, hopefully I’ll see you there.
Bay of’ Plenty Branch have put together an exciting program for the two days for members and for our partners. It’s going to be a great way to catch up with
all those colleagues you haven’t seen in a while and find out all the latest news and developments in our industry so if you haven’t all ready booked do so now.
The New Zealand Chefs Association is also hosting the Junior World Championships, this is the third tine this event has been held in the world it is been hosted by Auckland from the 31st of July to the 6th of August. Alot of people have been working very hard to pull everything together and find enough sponsorship to make this
event possible. The countries participating are:
New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Malaysia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, USA, Canada, Scotland, Luxembourg, Austria and Germany.
The first event for this Culinary Competition is a cocktail party welcoming all the competitors to our country and introducing them to all the sponsors who have kindly supported this competition, also a draw on the night will determine who is competing on what day during the week.
The competition is being held in
the Atrium on Elliot, this is in the centre of Auckland’s CBD and is also a premier shopping centre attracting a large number of the public through its doors. The contestants competition is split into two events, the first is a three course meal prepared hot but served cold. All 12 countries will contribute to a large magnificent buffet that will showcase the countries best culinary qualities.
The second part is a 3.5 hour cooking competition at the Atrium on Elliott, centre
stage. They have to produce a three course meal for 8 people, invited guests and sponsors will be able to enjoy the meals produced.
The finale to this competition is an awards dinner in conjunction with the Auckland’s Chefs Association Hall held at Sky City where Executive Chef Warren Bias will produce another culinary masterpiece showcasing Traditional New Zealand fare.
Awards will be presented to all participating countries with silver and gold awarded for each part of the
competition and an overall gold for the most outstanding all round Junior Chef.
